of Oakville, age 66, passed away Wednesday February 11, 2009 at Credit
Valley Hospital in Mississauga. He was born in Chatham Ontario, son of
the late Carle and Mildred (Jones) Walden.
Beloved husband of Marion (Rogers). Father to Chris (Barb) of London and
Corey (Nicole Pietsch) of Burlington, step-father to Taylor Blace of
Oakville, Shannon Blace (Rod Cornwell) of Mississauga. Grandfather to
Katie, Jenny and Bobby of London. Brother-in-law to Cliff Hasson of
Chatham. Uncle to Cindy (Kirk) Guerin of Chatham, and Charlotte Hasson of
Mississauga. Son-in-law to Bertie and Harvey Lyons from Ottawa, and Edith
Hummer from Salzburg, Austria. He was preceded in death by his former
wife Helga (Hummer), and his sister Coleen Hasson of Chatham. He will be
fondly remembered by his family and many friends.
He was known very much for his beard - which he originally grew when he
started teaching at Humber College. Although he enjoyed putting on a
stern appearance for his students, he was very much a teddy bear to those
who knew him personally. Music was always a large part of Bev's life,
from performing Gilbert and Sullivan in his youth, playing guitar and
singing songs to his children and grandchildren, whistling just about
everywhere he went, to singing barbershop in his retirement. Bev also
enjoyed the outdoors, especially the time he spent at the family cottages
at Pickerel River and at Point Clark.
A memorial will be held on Saturday February 21, 2009 at 2pm at the
Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd W in Oakville,
Ontario (905-844-2600).
The family has tremendous praise and gratitude to all of the staff of the
Credit Valley Hospital for taking such great care of Bev.
Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider
donations to the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, or to sponsor
Corey as he rides in his father's memory in the Ride To Conquer Cancer
this June 2009 ( www.conquercancer.ca/goto/walden ).
