The daughter of Ivy and William Byard, Beryl was born on August 23, 1927 in New Malden, England. She met Herb when he was stationed in England during WWII as a Canadian soldier and they married on January 31, 1945. Beryl travelled as a War Bride to Canada in early 1946 and she and Herb first lived in Pictou, Nova Scotia and then settled in Bronte to raise their family. Beryl was very involved in the community. She played and taught piano and she and Herb enjoyed a great social life. Beryl was the pianist at St. Simon's Anglican Church in Oakville for many years. She also took pride in devoting a great deal of her life to playing piano and organizing musical events at many seniors and retirement homes. Beryl loved music, singing, theatre, travelling (Vegas being a favourite) and was her happiest surrounded by family and friends.
Beryl will be remembered for her independent spirit, generosity and great sense of fun.
The family offers their sincere thanks to the staff in the palliative unit at Joseph Brant Hospital for their compassionate care of Beryl during the last weeks of her life.
