IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernice Rakoczy
(Nee Kruk)
March 3, 1926 – February 25, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice Rakoczy (Kruk) on February 25, 2021, in her 95 th year.
Bernice was born in Poland to Joseph and Ann Kruk. She immigrated to Canada in 1929, growing up in Hamilton, Ontario. She moved to Oakville (Bronte Village) in 1951 raising her three daughters, Mary Ann Crosland, Jane Dixon (Morley) and Virginia Bandy (Dave).
Treasured Babcia (grandmother) to Ann (Ritchie), Richard (Wynsome), Kelly, Christine (Matt), Laura (James) and Matthew (Isabella).
She will be greatly missed by her precious great grandchildren Hunter, Carwyn, Rhys, Trinity, Molly, Sydney, Joseph and Jacob.
Mum will be best remembered for her refined baking skills. Keeping our heritage alive with mouth watering perogies, cabbage rolls and a full range of desserts (butter tarts topping the list).
As well as perfecting her home skills, she took her passion for baking and cooking to working at an Oakville bakery then on to St. Lawrence Cement as an assistant to the chef. She also enjoyed making chocolates, initially for family, then expanding to a small home-based business. Such fun she had!
She was an avid ten pin bowler attending tournaments with her team throughout North America.
Did you know she could play the violin?
She was an active member of the CWL at St. Dominic Parish, Oakville and then at St. Andrew Parish, including the Friendship Group who all enjoyed her many goodies.
The family wishes to give their sincere thanks to the physicians, nurses and support staff on the sixth floor at O.T.M.H. for their compassion and care during these past two months.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bernice's name to Crohn's and Colitis Canada, St. Andrew Parish in Oakville or a charity of your choice.
Funeral Mass is to be held at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church,
47 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.
