Died peacefully on December 29, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Oakville in his 98th year. Born December 9, 1914 in Arnprior, Ontario. As an educator of 44 years, his teaching career started in a one room school in the middle of 'The Depression' and ended with his retirement from the MSSB in 1979. Bernard was well known for his sense of humour, his keen interest for all of his students, and his collaborative style with colleagues. Beloved husband of Marguerite (Leduc). Wonderful father of Bernie (Gretta), Marie (John), and Pat (Gillian). Cherished grandpa Chris (Shumin), Michelle, Alexandra (Steve), and Cynthia. Proud great-grandpa of Darren, Emma and Kyle. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Monday. Stories and celebration at 7:30pm. Funeral mass at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville at 10am on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise Assisted Living, Oakville for their loving care in the last three years of Bernard's life and especially during his final days. No flowers please.
