Surrounded by family, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend Barrie Gilbert Sprawson went to be with his Lord where he joins his son Andrew who passed away just one month earlier. Barrie came to Canada from Birmingham, England at age 17 to start his adventure. Five months later Gillian Spencer followed from Birmingham, and they were married in January 1958. Together they had 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and hundreds of wonderful friends. His business career saw him reach partner at KPMG. His education included Harvard Business School and he guest lectured at Queen's University Business School. Although Barrie was very accomplished and respected in the business world, his greatest passion was helping others. His volunteer achievements include; Young Street Mission board member, Phillip Aziz Centre board member, active member of Kerr Street Ministries, Rotary's "Paul Harris Fellow" recipient for outstanding community service, Director of the Toronto Board of Trade, Chairman of Toronto Jaycees, founding advisor to Volunteer Builders, founding board member and chair of Rebounders Canada, active member of Chartwell Baptist Church community. We can hardly believe that the centre of our family is no longer with us. He was our anchor and our sails at the same time. His smile lit up our days. He will be missed terribly. He was a wonderful man. Thank you to the expert nurses and doctors at OTMH. Visitation and Service will be held at Chartwell Baptist Church, 228 Chartwell Road, Oakville. Visitation on Monday, September 24th from 7-9pm and memorial service on Tuesday, September 25th at 2pm. Please arrive at church from north (Cornwall Road) as there is road work underway.
