In loving memory of Barbara Kowal-Kocijowsky who passed away peacefully at her home in Oakville on August 4th, 2025. Born on November 9th 1951 in Sudbury she lived her early years in Coniston just outside of Sudbury. After receiving her BA at Laurentian University she received her teaching degree at Western University in London where she remained for a few years to teach. Eventually Barbara moved to Mississauga where she taught at St Joseph's Primary school, met and married Jerry Kocijowsky and settled in Oakville.

Barbara was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage, was a member of St Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church participating in many events held there. She enjoyed reading books, especially crime novels, she was an avid antiques collector and was extremely knowledgeable in that field. She loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and swimming at the Ukrainian camp in Sudbury. Also she was a lover of pet cats and dogs and never in her life was she without a pet.

Barbara will be remembered as a friendly, very kind,  considerate, generous person and completely devoted to her grandchildren Riley and Lillian and neice Genie.

She is predeceased by her parents Anna and Eugene Kowal and her sisters Luba and Petrusia.
Beloved wife of Jerry, mother of Sonia Stasiuk of Toronto, grandmother to Riley and Lillian Spence of Toronto and aunt to Genie of Oakville.

Resting at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville.
Friends may visit 6-8 pm Tuesday August 12, 2025 with a panachyda at 7:00 pm
Funeral mass to follow Wednesday August 13, 2025 at St Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 11:00 am 300 River Oaks Blvd E Oakville. Internment will be at  St Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery at 1280 Dundas St W Oakville.

A luncheon reception of remembrance will be held at St Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church
