Barbara German passed away peacefully in Barrie, Ontario, on Sunday November 19, 2023, in her 99th year. Daughter of the late James and Gertrude Reilly. Predeceased by her loving husband Vern German (2011) and survived by her children Lynn (John) Gilbank of Mono Township, Lynda (Chris) Newton of Severn Township, and Cam (Sheila) German of Weston, Florida.  Much loved Nana to grandchildren Ben (McKenna) Gilbank, Richard (Hailey) Gilbank, Meghan (Dave) Newton, Emily (Sam) Newton, Dylan and Ciara German. Great-grandmother to Connor and Grace Gilbank, and Calvin and Odette Oudshoorn.

Barbara graduated from nursing at Women's College Hospital, class of 1947. She supported Vern throughout his career in the world of business, including his years as President of Pilkington Glass. Barbara was a long time volunteer at the Mississauga General Hospital (Trillium), for which she was awarded the Ontario Volunteer Service Award, and Certificate of Recognition as an Honorary Life Member of the Mississauga Hospital Volunteer Association. Throughout their sixty plus years of marriage, Barbara and Vern enjoyed travelling around the world, often accompanied by their good friends, Cy and Joyce Haycraft.

A celebration of Barbara's life will take place on January 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm, at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Canadian Cancer Society.
