IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Betty
Caird
April 5, 1930 – November 8, 2025
Surrounded by family and love, we sadly announce the passing of our lovely mom, Barbara Betty Caird (née Hubbard). Devoted wife of the late John F. Caird; proud mom of Martin (Janet), Jane (Victor), and Andrew; grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of ten, and lover of many grand dogs.
Born and raised near Leeds, England, Betty lived in Hornsea, England, with her young family, and they all came to Canada in 1957 for new opportunities. She spent many happy years in Oakville, Honey Harbour, and Naples.
Betty was loving, kind, gracious, quietly intelligent, and athletic. She had an unerring sense of style and moved through life with understated elegance - a real lady. The simple things - a single rose, fresh air and sunshine, a good laugh, and a kind word - brought her great pleasure. We will miss her essence and her deep interest in our families' accomplishments and challenges.
Betty supported her husband John in his business endeavours with enthusiasm and encouragement. She also enjoyed the process of building and interior design, overseeing the construction of eleven new homes. Creative and artistic, Betty's medium was the fabric arts - quilting, knitting, sewing, rug hooking, and embroidery. She was also talented and competitive in tennis, badminton, and bridge, she would often say, "If you can play tennis and bridge, you can make friends anywhere in the world." And she did.
We are grateful for the excellent care she received at Hearthstone by the Lake and at OTMH.
In her memory, the family welcomes donations to the Oakville Humane Society or Halton Food Bank . Private family remembrance will be held at a later date.
