Obituary

Passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025. Audrey was the beloved wife of John to whom she was married for 66 years before his passing in November of 2019. She was a loving and caring mother to Warren, Cathy (Dave), Sandra (Gord), Susan and Murray (Linda), as well as a proud and devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Audrey was an Oakville resident since 1958 living in the same house on Willis Drive. She was an active member of the community and, among other things, could be seen at Hopedale Mall selling tickets for the Waterfront Festival. For over 15 years she was a volunteer at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. She was a long-standing member of the Church of the Epiphany and served in a variety of capacities. She was a regular Bridge player and a league Bowler. Audrey worked in office administration before, and after, raising her family. In their retirement years Audrey and John travelled the world and had many exciting adventures together.

Audrey daily cared for John through his three years in Long-Term Care. After his passing she moved to an apartment on Marine Drive in Bronte where she became part of a caring community of supportive friends. There she kept active socially enjoying weekly get-togethers with the ladies in the building and with the knitting group at the Epiphany. Audrey and John's home on Willis Drive will be remembered as the family center. Audrey always had the coffee brewing and the chairs on the patio. Three generations of children joyfully played in their backyard. Audrey greatly appreciated, and thoughtfully cared for, all of her children and their children (and their children). Each and every one of them was individually special to her. They are all a credit to her love and attention.

Thank you Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma! A special thank-you also goes out to the OTMH nurses, palliative care team and the Ian Anderson House. The family will be holding a private ceremony to celebrate her life and honour her memory.
