Audrey's Shining Light

"This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine."

Audrey Dolorosa Fernandes lived her life shining a wonderful light. This light reached thousands of people, whether it was through her brilliant mind or her endless love of food. Growing up in a wonderful home, she learned the importance of culture, which gave her the wisdom to travel the world. During her adult life, you would often find her traveling to new cultures (and foods!), on the ski slopes, or sailing on Honu. Within these activities Audrey's exciting & caring personality built deep, meaningful relationships with an amazing crew of friends.

While an illustrious career allowed her to share her passion for food with the rest of the world, Audrey's light shined brightest when caring & spending time with her family. Committed to seeing her children (Spencer & Harrison) shine their own lights, Audrey spent countless hours & resources guiding them through ski racing, hitting practises, music lessons, study sessions, and so much more. She always emphasized the importance of spending quality time with family, which allowed her light to also touch Tony & Martha Fernandes (Mom & Dad), the Fernandes clan, and the Lee family. As Audrey battled for over 3 years (did I mention a strong mind?), she had immense gratitude for the light created by her Angels (Marguerite & Lynne), in addition to the unwavering support of her husband Peter. Through their gold-standard of love, Peter & Audrey spent every minute enriching each other's lives. As best friends, their life included dancing nights at the disco to raising their 2 children together. While reiterating she married him for his sweaters, the love they shared will last long past her passing.

While Audrey may no longer be physically with us (as of February 22 2021), you can bet her energy will be around every person her light reached. This energy will remind us to honour her memory by living as she did: enriching & being in love with every minute of your life. As you look down on us Audrey, be confident each one of us will keep your light shining bright.

In remembrance of Audrey's life & the immense support from Wellsprings, the family asks that charitable donations be made to Wellspring Chinguacousy Cancer Support Centre , so they can continue to support countless others in need."
