Sant, Anthony Benjamin

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anthony Benjamin, a dear son, brother, uncle and friend on January 1, 2015 in his 60th year. Despite battling both physical and mental illness for most of his life, Tony maintained a positive attitude and a love of people. His determination and strength during his last years amazed us all. Tony's many passions included art, history, the pursuit of knowledge, a good debate, radio trivia contests and music ranging from Beethoven to The Who. However, more than anything he wished for compassion toward those struggling with mental illness and hoped that a cure for schizophrenia would eventually be found. We will greatly miss him and his hearty and contagious laughter. Tony has gone to join his father, John. He leaves his mother, Mary, his siblings Al (Shelley), Joseph, Mary-Anne, John (Gabrielle) and Tracy Rivers (John), 11 nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 5 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville. The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 6, at 10:00am at St. James Catholic Church, 231 Morden Road, Oakville. In keeping with Tony's wishes, donations to Progress Place would be appreciated.
