Obituary

Peacefully passed away in her 98th year at Cawthra Gardens LTC, Mississauga on January 2, 2012. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her extended family. She was predeceased in 1966 by her husband, Jacob (aka Jack). She was the loving mother of Vera Kirk (Lex, deceased), Nada Dancy (Bruce), and Lovey Pritchard (Roy), and cherished grandmother of Jacob, Peter, and Carys Kirk, Kevin and Christopher Dancy, Andrew and David Pritchard, and Angela Randall and a proud great-grandmother of John and James Kirk, and Aidan and Alexandra Randall. Anne and her husband Jack were very active in the church and were one the founding families of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Oakville, Ontario. They also helped build the parish hall and church of St. Michael's in Transcona, Manitoba prior to moving to Ontario in the 1950s. Anne was a long-time president of the Ukrainian Catholic Woman's League in each of the churches to which she belonged in Transcona, Kitchener and Oakville. Anne and her husband Jack were partners in the Queen Elizabeth Motel in Oakville, and later in the Coronet Motor Hotel in Kitchener where, after her husband's death she was an active member of the Kitchener Waterloo Woman's Hotel and Business Association. Anne lived life to the fullest, and touched the lives of all who knew her. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling, and loved to crochet and cook for both her family and the church. Her skills in cooking and organization were instrumental in many fundraising efforts that helped build and develop St. Joseph's Church. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Cawthra Gardens in Mississauga, especially those in the Aspen Grove unit, for their dedicated care of Anne in her last years. Visitation will be held, at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a Panachyda at 7:30 pm Thursday, January 5, 2012. Funeral service 10 am Friday, January 6, 2012 and interment to follow at St. Judes Cemetery on Lakeshore Road, Oakville.
