Anna (Nancy) Marie Taylor (nee O'Shaugnessy) - Age 92. Burlington ON. Passed away peacefully in her sleep at home Aug 14, 2022.
Nancy was born on Feb 9 1930, in Philadelphia PA, to Mary Agnes (nee Brady) and Charles James O'Shaugnessy. Beloved wife of the late William Coleman (Cole) Taylor and mother to William Sean and the late Kathleen Marie. She was third in a family of five. Sister to Marie Williams, she is predeceased by her siblings Catherine Esposito, Charles O'Shaughnessy, Margaret Meyer and Joan Depa. She is survived by her son William Sean (Debbie); grandchildren Roseanne Katelynn (Alex McLean), William Anthony (Amanda), and Benjamin Nickolas; and great-grandchildren Taylor and Aspen, as well as a great many nieces and nephews.
Nancy would regale her children and friends with stories of life growing up in Philadelphia. In her early years she held a variety of jobs including work at a candy factory, employment with a firearms manufacturer, and even work as an "I Like Ike" model during a presidential campaign. Her employment brought her to Canada in the mid 1950's and here she met her future husband, Cole. They married in 1957 and adopted a son, Sean and later a daughter Kathy. Due to Cole's work they lived in a variety of cities including Calgary, Edmonton, Burlington, Oakville and Halifax. As the children started school, Nancy went back to work at the local pre-school and earned a certificate in "Early Childhood Education". She later volunteered with various Artist Circles, helping them get exposure within the corporate world. Nancy worked with Birthright in those days even opening the family home to young people in need. She had a very diverse set of enjoyments over her lifetime, ranging from volunteer work, bridge clubs, reading clubs, jigsaw puzzles, her dogs, and extensive travelling with her husband. As Cole retired, they settled back into Burlington and enjoyed many years of winter months in Naples Florida always inviting family and friends to visit and stay. She was a long-time parishioner of St. James Catholic Parish in Oakville and actively supported the CWL, the Festival of Lights & Carols, Christmas bazaars, senior's luncheons, Parish Picnics and more.
There will be a Mass of Thanksgiving said for Nancy at 11:00 am, Saturday Sept 10, 2022 at St. James Catholic Parish with reception following in the church hall.
