Obituary

The family of Anna Godziek (Sucharzewska) is sad to announce that Anna passed away on March 21, 2026 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. Anna is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Frank (2011). She is survived by their 3 sons Tony (Alison), Stan (Annette) and Adam (Jill), 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Born in 1929 Dobrowlany Święciany district Poland her family was exiled to Arkangelsk Russia during the war. Her family was part of the Poles who were evacuated to Valevade India via Tehran and Karachi. After WW2 she moved to England then to Canada, marrying Frank Godziek in 1954 and settling in Oakville Ontario.

They built a cottage on 150 acres near Victoria Rd Ontario where the kids had many great fishing, swimming, and exploring adventures. Playing euchre was a favorite past time. She also loved gardening and tending to her abundant vegetable garden

Upon Frank’s retirement, Anna and Frank moved to beautiful Penticton BC and enjoyed going to the hot springs nearby, and taking the grandkids tubing down the channel. Later, they moved back to Oakville to be near their family.

Church was a big part of her life especially St. Anthony of Padua Polish Roman Catholic Church.

She will be remembered for her loving spirit, encouraging her kids, being smart and her honesty. She loved to walk and had little need for a car. Her cabbage rolls, chrusciki, pierogies, and potato pancakes were some of her children’s favorites. Even at 90 she could play a solid card game of euchre and 1000.
