IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew Robert
Langlois
May 10, 1966 – July 8, 2022
With sadness we announce the passing of Andrew Langlois in his 57 th year. He is survived, loved, and will be missed by his parents, Sylvia and Bob Langlois, sister Marian (Steve Uszkay), brother John (Amy Campbell) and his beloved nephews and nieces, Campbell, Jeffrey, Alexa, Sean, Mark, and Claire.
Andrew's life was shaped, but not limited, by hydrocephalus, which was diagnosed at three months of age. Rather miraculously, this was treated at Sick Kids Hospital, where he was a frequent flyer during his childhood years. From being severely disabled as a young child, he improved during his childhood and teenage years, and graduated from both high school and Sheridan College. As he aged, his disabilities gradually worsened, but he was able to achieve some independence and spent the final nine years of his life in his own apartment at the March of Dimes Apartments in downtown Oakville.
He dearly loved his family and friends. His life centred around family, and he had great times visiting his relatives in England, at various cottages, and at frequent family gatherings. He loved the limited time he could spend in nature, and would spend peaceful hours fishing off a dock, or in boats. He spent time near the end of his life at the March of Dimes summer camp on Lake Couchiching, where the staff took him boating by lying him face up in the bottom of a canoe, which was the highlight of his week! At family events, things ebbed and flowed around him, and he loved to chat with nieces and nephews, or cuddle with the dogs.
He had a memory like an elephant, and he loved to tell stories. His laugh was a defining characteristic. He was famous for hijacking conversations with complete non sequiturs. He was always full of "helpful" suggestions- which often were ideas for what Marian or John ought to do. They arose from the fact that he thought about his family all the time. He shaped the best elements of all three generations of our family- defining the importance of love, support, and laughter.
He will be dearly missed.
