Andrew Kenneth Fraser, age 89 of Oakville passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on January 19, 2017. Andy was born in London, England, June 18, 1927, son of the late Douglas and Beatrice (Taylor) Fraser. Beloved husband for 65 years of Dorothy (Bateman). Amazing father of Ian (Nancy), Malcolm (Charlene) and Scott (Keri). Proud and loving Grandfather of Calum, Andrew, & William. Predeceased by his brother Don.
Andy grew up in England and was very involved with carpentry. He delighted in making furniture and general woodwork.
After his military service in the British Army, he worked for various trucking companies including Bulk Carriers Ltd. as CEO, and President of The Ontario Trucking Association and National Tank Truck Carriers Association.
Following his retirement in 1983 he wintered in Florida for 9 years and lived in various parts of Canada including Barrie, Oakville, Vancouver Island, and Burlington before settling in Oakville once again. Andy was also a Freemason, attaining the rank of 32 degrees, and a Shriner in Rameses Shrine.
A gathering of family and friends in memory of Andy will be held Thursday, January 26 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, followed by interment at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery, Dundas Street, Oakville. As expressions of sympathy, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers any memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
