Obituary

After a long journey marked by strength and grace, it is with deep love and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Amy Green, on December 10, 2025, at West Oak Village Long Term Care in Oakville, ON.

Amy was predeceased by her parents Nancy & Jack, brother John and sister Beryl. She will be sadly missed by her soulmate & partner John Grainger, daughters Courtney Shirley (John), Heather Smith (Brandon), and son Kevin Malone (Lisa). She was a very proud Nana to grandchildren Riley, Madison, Samantha, Cassia, Taylor and Cody. Amy will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Prior to moving into West Oak Village, Amy was cared for at home by a wonderful group of around the clock PSW's. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to these wonderful, caring ladies: Jaspreet, Michelle, Sandeep, Hanna, Jemcy and Wanda not to mention all additional PSW's, doctors, nurses and medical staff who cared for Amy during her fight with this horrible disease. To the staff at West Oak Village, Amy was not with you for long, but the kindness, care and warmth you showed not only to Amy, but our family as well, will never be forgotten.

Amy was born in Liverpool, England and came to Canada in 1955. She grew up in Scarborough, but later lived in Oakville, where you would always find her gardening in her free time. She worked in the insurance industry, in Toronto, her entire life, before retiring in 2013. After her retirement, you could either find Amy and John travelling (earth surfing, as we affectionately called it) or relaxing on the front porch in the evenings with a glass of Pinot Grigio, always with a friendly hello to the neighbour's passing by.

Amy was the heart and soul of our family, her spirit, laughter, warmth, and unwavering love will be with us forever.

"Mom, you may be gone from our sight, but we know you are all around us – in the wind, the sun, the rain – your spirit shining in every sparkle, like diamond glints on freshly fallen snow."

As per Amy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the late spring, details to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Amy may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Halton or to a charity of your choice.
