Obituary

Alyce Spronken Prior

Alyce Prior, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully February 27, 2026 at the age of 99.

Born on October 27, 1926, in Beek, Limburg, Netherlands,

Alyce grew up with a spirit of curiosity and resilience that would guide her throughout her long and remarkable life. She was Pre deceased by her beloved husband Allen Prior.

In 1953, she and her husband, Allen, began a new chapter when they immigrated to Canada together, finding Oakville where they built a home and a future filled with love, family, and adventure.

Alyce was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Allen Prior (1927-2010 ) and mother to her four children: Allan, Patrick, Rebecca and Ionah. She was an amazing and proud Grandmother to Spencer, Lauren, Kaileigh, Conor, Austin, and Logan, and a delighted Great-Grandmother to Jones and Rafferty, who all brought her endless joy.

She had a deep love for creativity and nature. Alyce spent many peaceful hours working with clay, creating pottery that reflected her patience and artistic spirit. She was a proud member of the Oakville Arts Society.

Her gardens were another source of pride and happiness, where she nurtured her plants and flowers with the same care she gave to her family.

Alongside her husband, Alyce travelled widely and loved sharing stories of their adventures around the world. Her tales were always told with warmth, humour, and a sparkle in her eye. She carried a wonderful outlook on life. Optimistic, kind, and full of appreciation for the simple joys around her.

Those who knew Alyce will remember her jovial laugh, her gentle wisdom, her amazing memory and the love she so freely gave to everyone around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply and in the many memories she created over nearly a century of life.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always.

In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be joined with those of her beloved husband and scattered in the “pink” mountains of the East Kootnays in British Columbia - a landscape that spoke to her soul and where she felt a profound sense of wonder.
