IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alexander
Greig
May 30, 1929 – September 17, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Greig. Beloved husband of 67 years of Anne McComb Gerrard (deceased), Loving father of Anne, (Stephen), Stewart (Nicole), Beloved Grandfather of Alison, Iain (Katie), Stephanie and Matthew. Great Grandfather of Lyla, Conor and Zora.
Alex was born May 30, 1929 in Stevenston, Ayrshire, Scotland.
As a young man in Scotland he did his carpenter's apprenticeship with the ICI and worked as carpenter/joiner for many years.
At the age of 18 he joined the Royal Navy where he sailed the seas on a minesweeper cleaning up the oceans after the war. In 1954 he married the love of his life Annie Gerrard and in 1957 they immigrated to Canada where they raised their two children Anne and Stewart. Alex went on to become a high school teacher, teaching building construction and Mechanical drafting.
After living 25 years in Mississauga they moved to Bronte Ontario, where they spent many happy years of retirement. They bought a boat and sailed out of Bronte Harbour Yacht Club.
Music was always a big part of his life. He played in Pipe bands in Scotland and in Canada. He also played the piano and accordion, entertaining family and friends all of his life. Alex had a quick wit. He loved a joke and good story. He was dearly loved and we will all miss him terribly.
