It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alex Varga on April 3, 2010, at the age of 77 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with his son Jim and grandson Eric at his side. Beloved father of Karen (Eric Stare), James (Maarit) and father-in-law to Megan Varga. Stepfather of Richard Maitland and Russell Janveau. Loved grandfather of Alliese, Sara, Kari and Eric Varga. Stepfather of Gordon (deceased), Denise and Krista Butt. Loved grandfather of Trevor, Amber and Jenna. Predeceased by his son Alex (aka Shawn/Alec) and his parents Stephen and Sophie (nee Hornyak), brothers Stephen and Leslie and sisters Margaret and Ann. Survived by brothers William (Joyce) and Albert, sister-in-law Ilene, brother-in-law Al, with many nieces and nephews including nephew Dave (Christine), Bill and niece Marie (Brian) and their families. Heartfelt thanks to the caring doctors and nurses at OTMH, his doctor Dr. G. W. Thomson and his many friends at Ford. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville from 12 – 1:00 p.m. Thursday April 08 with a service celebrating Alex's life at 1:00 p.m. in the Kopriva Taylor Chapel. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
