Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Wight on November 29, 2024, after many years of health challenges. Alan was a devoted husband to Adrienne, a loving father to Christopher (his wife, Henriette [née Bako]), Carol (her partner, Patrick) and a cherished grandfather to Samantha (her husband, Braden), Kyle, Carley, and Alexandra. Alan passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Alan was born in South Shields, County Durham, England, a picturesque town nestled at the mouth of the River Tyne and the North Sea. In 1969, he immigrated to Canada with his family, settling in Oakville, Ontario, where he built a life rooted in community, hard work, and generosity.

A skilled professional, Alan began his career in sales and engineering for a generator controls and switchgear manufacturer in 1972. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own successful business in the same field in 1980, a testament to his determination and expertise.

Alan was also deeply committed to Freemasonry. Introduced by his father-in-law, Bro. David A. Anderson, on June 11, 1968, at Heaton Lodge No. 2723 in Northumberland, England, Alan embraced the values and traditions of Freemasonry with passion and dedication. Throughout his life, he actively participated in degree work, installations, past masters' meetings, and various social activities. His contributions were recognized with the prestigious 50-year pin from the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario, an honour reflecting his unwavering service and commitment.

Alan will be remembered as a caring and devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man of integrity who touched the lives of many. His kindness, wisdom, and warmth will remain a beacon of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Alan's wishes were for a masonic and private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada.

Alan will forever be in our hearts.
