It is with incredible sadness that we announce the sudden death of Alan Joseph Cameron on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Alan will be deeply missed by his two sons, Joseph (Kayla) and John, and his three sisters, Kathryn (John), Frances (Robert) and Jo Ann. Alan was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anne. He was a proud uncle to many, and a loving friend to many more. Alan will be remembered with affection and laughter by all those that were blessed to know him.
Born in Oakville, Ontario, Alan attended T. A. Blakelock High School where he played football, volleyball and basketball – and made many of his life long and cherished friends. He later attended Sheridan College, played basketball, and graduated from the Police Foundations Program.
Alan also served 37 years as a devoted member of the Toronto Police Service, 14 Division. He was proud to work and serve with such dedicated men and women.
Second only to his love of sports, Alan enjoyed cooking for others, and his sauces and stews are famous among those who knew him. Alan's legacy of gentleness and compassion will remain in the hearts and lives of those he knew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM, followed by a service from 7:00PM to 8:00PM at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville. A celebration of life will follow at The Firehall Restaurant, 2390 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville.
